About Us

Cascade Cardiology began on March 3, 2003. It was started by a small crew dedicated to teamwork, innovation, integrity, compassion and excellence.

Dr. Kirk Walker (board certified in interventional cardiology), along with Sue Snider, RN (specializing in heart failure) and Timothy Taber (echocardiography sonographer) were part of the core that began the practice. In the beginning, the main office was in Keizer, Oregon and satellite clinics were maintained in Woodburn and Silverton.

In 2005, Cascade Cardiology moved its main office to the fifth floor of Center for Outpatient Medicine (building C) next to Salem Hospital to have greater accessibility to our hospitalized patients in Salem. Our service to the communities of Silverton and Woodburn through our clinics remained consistent and an integral part of Cascade Cardiology’s mission.

2006 Cascade Cardiology recruited an additional interventional cardiologist, Dr. Maziar Azadpour. Dr. Azadpour had just finished his interventional fellowship training program in Miami Florida where he specialized in advanced angioplasty and stent techniques for the treatment of cardiovascular disease and heart attacks.

2008 is the year when our cardiac arrhythmia, pacemaker and defibrillator program became a reality. We recruited Dr. Ashit’ Patel, an electrophysiologist, specializing in pacemakers, defibrillators, ablations and other heart rhythm problems. He joined us after completing his fellowship at OHSU and who specializes in the treatment of cardiac rhythm problems.

In July 2009, Dr. Harminder Gandhok joined Cascade Cardiology's team. Dr. Gandhok is our third interventional cardiologist who is completing his Interventional cardiology fellowship at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. He specializes in peripheral interventions, coronary interventions and nuclear cardiology.

Dr. Chad Carr joined Cascade Cardiology in September of 2011. He is certified for diagnostic and nuclear cardiology and echocardiography. He received his Doctor of Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, and did his fellowship and residency at OHSU.

Cascade Cardiology is an accredited lab for both nuclear medicine and echocardiography.

This team of doctors, nurses and administrative staff works passionately to serve our patients. The team collaborates. We discuss diagnosis and treatment of difficult or unique cases. We take pride in our ability to provide the best possible evidence-based care locally. We take equal pride in our ability to coordinate care regionally or nationally for those with special problems, such as complex congenital heart disease or needing heart transplant, through our membership and affiliation with the American College of Cardiology and its extensive network of cardiovascular experts throughout the nation. This strategy, providing extreme excellence locally and tapping into regional and national expertise will assure that our patients and the communities we serve will be guaranteed innovation, integrity, compassion and excellence whenever they seek help and advice for their cardiovascular health.
