
Dr. Ashit Patel has lived in many places including England, India and ultimately the United States where he resided in New York for approximately 25 years. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware in Newark and his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York, where he served as Chief Medical Resident. Dr. Patel pursued his fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at the Beth Israel Medical Center/Long Island College Hospital in New York, where he also served as Chief Cardiology Fellow for a large multicenter program. Dr. Patel did his final advanced training in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Oregon.
Dr. Patel joined Cascade Cardiology in December 2008. He incorporates the most up-to-date advanced technology in the field of cardiology and electrophysiology for treatment of heart rhythm disorders, heart failure and sudden death syndromes. He is a strong advocate of education for patients, providers and the community to have a sound understanding of cardiovascular diseases, thereby improving treatment.
Dr. Patel is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases, as well as by the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE). He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC). Additionally, he is a member of the Heart Rhythm Society, American Heart Association and American Society of Echocardiography. He plays an active role in local medical chapters and societies. Dr. Patel is on the medical staff at Salem Hospital and Silverton Hospital, and affiliated with St. Vincent’s Hospital in Portland.
Dr. Patel enjoys golfing, cooking and the outdoors. His wife, Sonel, is a Family Physician and they are proud parents of two daughters.
